The Community of Estevan, as their
logo indicates, is the “Energy City” of Saskatchewan.
It is unique within our province because of it’s location
near the border and the natural resources found within the area.
Coal, oil, farming, the Shand and Boundary Dam Power Stations,
as well as being located near North Portal, on Highway #39, the
main port of entry for Saskatchewan to the United States of America,
all combine to create the uniqueness of the community and area.
This is a Community of opportunity
and is currently experiencing a very strong growth period, in
part, because of oil exploration and the possibility of a third
power plant in the very near future.
The best keep secret of the area
is our recreational facilities; with two lakes, two golf courses
and two camp grounds within minutes of our Community. We are also
within a radius of a little more than an hour away from other
similar recreational facilities. Estevan and area is also known
as the sun shine capital of Canada.
The Estevan Police Service just
completed its’ 100 years (1906 – 2006) of policing
in this community. As of 2007 the authorized staffing strength
is 19 police officers, 2 office staff positions, four Communication
Officers, two casual Communication Officers and a Bylaw Enforcement
officer position. As well a RCMP member and the Victim Services
co-coordinator also work out of our facilities.
The Estevan Police Service is very
dedicated to improving their ability to communicate with the citizens
of Estevan and the surrounding community. One method is by using
the electronic information system (internet) to communicate. We
hope you will find this Website informative and we welcome and
encourage your feedback as to this new Website.
“ESTEVAN POLICE SERVICE,
A PARTNER IN OUR COMMUNITY”
V.B. (Bing) Forbes
Chief of Police
Estevan Police Service

Information coming.

The Estevan Police Service, in
concert with other agencies and the citizens of Estevan, is instrumental
in preserving the quality of life in our community by maintaining
Estevan as a secure place in which to live. In so doing, we are
dedicated philosophically to the concept of community based policing.
Our primary focus is on crime prevention, crime detection and
apprehension and traffic safety, and our most effective tools
are positive community relations, education, problem solving and
use of current technology to analyze conditions, project trends
and deploy resources.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
1. To promote an understanding that the
true measure of police effectiveness is the absence of crime and
disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing
with them.
2. To secure the cooperation of the public in voluntary observance
of laws by encouraging understanding and communications between
the citizens of Estevan and the Estevan Police Service.
3. To maximize individual and collective skills within the service
in terms of crime prevention, crime detection and traffic safety.
4. To promote a professional police image by demonstrating impartial
service of the law and by offering service and friendship to all
members of the public without regard to gender, race, religious
belief, colour ancestry or place of origin.
5. To use only the minimum force required on any particular occasion,
and only when persuasion, advice and warning are found to be insufficient
to obtain public observance of the law.
6. To recruit qualified candidates who reflect the diversity of
this community.
7. To provide training, education and developmental capabilities
within the Estevan Police Service that maximizes the potential;
of all members.
8. To achieve the forgoing within an acceptable cost framework.
